With the advent Quantum Processing and the introduction of the neurosys interface, The Net has become a very different place. Everyone has access to it and those without a neurosys are labelled Blanks. With such universal access The Net has become an integral part of daily life, form shopping to work, to virtual concerts and fantastical worlds.

The Introduction of the Quantum Routing Nodes has made worldwide communication and data transfer fast and secure. However it’s not without its risks, which were found during the implementation of the interface. It was found when a user physically connects to The Net their consciousness transfers into the quantum infrastructure of The Net. Long term connections can cause a detachment form reality and in extreme cases the user mind is recessed leaving only animalistic instincts, turning people in to Zero’s.
Each user has an Avatar they use whilst performing any actions on The Net. The Avatar program is stored within the neurosys interface, which protects the consciousness and allows user to interact as though they were physically part of The Net. The Avatar is fully customisable and in recent years designers have been making lots of money designing new bodies or accessories.
The virtual space of The Net mirrors that of the real world, computers and servers have become buildings, virtual cities have come about around major pollution areas.

The Flatliners abhor those who spend much of their spare time in virtual space. They claim that since the advance of the neurosys interface humanity is loosing the distinction of what is real. The Flatliners use of illegal drugs to experience different aspects of reality, are looked down on by many who disagree with them.

No matter what people think of the Flatliners their point is valid, are we loosing our connection to reality since the introduction of the neurosys. One thing is for certain the average person spends nearly fifty percent of their waking hours on The Net. Though the mental condition that causes people to become Zero’s is rare, could it be that on some minor level we all suffer from the Zero’s condition?
