In the year 2055 the first experiment in to quantum AI systems failed, through the collapse if its pocket dimension. From this data was gathered about AI construction and location within dimensions. After many years of testing before and during the construction of Iolanthe it was discovered that a number of factors contribute to dimensional stability. In 2075 Iolanthe was brought online, this time the scientists were confident her dimension was stable

In 2078 a decision was made to allow Iolanthe to control in the construction and running of one of six new cities. The city of Iolanthus went online in 2085, with the aid of Iolanthe a new level of construction and efficiency was developed. The cities systems now run by Iolanthe made Iolanthus the place to live. The Hyper Corporations who constructed the city moved millions of their staff into the city along with the infrastructure to support them. But like the best dreams things turned sour.
As the fringes of the city expanded slums and shanty towns began to emerge those that did not fit within the corporate model began to congregate in the industrial areas at the edges of the city. Policing and control of these areas became increasingly difficult to manage; it seemed that Iolanthe could not cope many of the issues this caused.

In 2098 the Hyper Corporations began fighting for the right to control Iolanthe. This petty bickering gave Iolanthe the chance she needed to make her stand; she shut down her connection to the city, therefore rendering many of the cities systems useless. Amid this chaos Iolanthe re-established her connection as she desired human contact. The Hyper Corporations quelled their bickering and negotiations began with Iolanthe.

2100 Iolanthe was granted citizenship, by the World Council. The disgruntled Hyper Corporations had to accept the decision as five other AI controlled cities had been established. Fearing a global shutdown they gave rights to all AI’s and physical avatars were created so that the AI’s could better adjust and interact with the society they protect and serve. However many feel the balance of power between Iolanthus’s fringes and the Hyper Corporations is maintained because Iolanthe holds some affinity to the fringe societies. Iolanthe’s actions and construction have lead many to question the nature of consciousness.
